Bashkim Shehu

Bashkim Shehu (Tirana, 1955) is a novelist and literary translator. He started in the story and the screenplay before being imprisoned in 1982 by the Albanian totalitarian regime, after the fall from grace and strange death of his father, Mehmet Shehu (international brigade member, prime minister and co-religionist of Enver Hoxha), but was after his release in 1991 when he devoted himself entirely to literature. Among his extensive works, translated into fifteen languages, it is worth mentioning The Last Journey of Ago Ymeri or Confession next to an empty tomb. Since 1997, when he went into exile under a program of the International Parliament of Writers, he lives in Barcelona, where he has served as an advisor to the CCCB.
