Beatriz Canabal Cristiani. She has a degree in Sociology from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and a doctorate in Sociology from the School of Higher Studies in Social Sciences in Paris. She has been a professor and researcher at UNAM and at the Autonomous University of Chapingo. She has been assigned to the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Xochimilco since 1983. She has taught courses and advised undergraduate and graduate theses; has carried out research work in different regions of the country, mainly in the Mezquital Valley in the state of Hidalgo, in the Altos de Chiapas region, in the Guerrero Mountain region, in the south of Mexico City and in the state of Morelos.
She has published books, book chapters and articles on topics related to the peasant issue, movements and social organizations in rural areas, peasant and indigenous women, migration and the countryside-city relationship.
