César García Álvarez (León, 1970) is a tenured professor of Art History at the University of León and a piano professor at the Valladolid Conservatory. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Heidelberg. His teaching and research work covers different fields of Art History and Theory, especially those related to the symbolism of images and the theoretical and methodological aspects of their interpretation. He has published three books: Fantastic Iconography and Symbolism in the Renaissance, The Symbolism of the Renaissance Grotesque and The Labyrinth of the Soul, and numerous works focused on the study of symbolic aspects of art.
