Charles Foster

Charles Foster. United Kingdom, 1962. Foster is a writer, lawyer and traveler. He is a member of Green Templeton College at the University of Oxford. Much of his life has been devoted to expeditions; he participated in a 150 mile race in the Sahara, skied at the North Pole, and bled in many beautiful and desolate landscapes. He has written or contributed to more than thirty-five books on travel, evolutionary biology, natural history, anthropology, and philosophy. He has published in countless outlets including The Guardian, The Spectator, National Geographic, BBC Wildlife Magazine, Time Out, The Daily Telegraph, The Independent, The Oldie, and The Literary Review. He has been a professor of veterinary medicine and law at Cambridge, and is a qualified veterinary surgeon. Foster also has a Ph.D. in Law and Bioethics from the University of Cambridge. He is Professor of Medical Law and Ethics at Oxford University, and Visiting Professor and Fellow at the Oxford University School of Law. He is a research associate at the Uehiro Center for Practical Ethics and a research associate at the Ethox Center and the HeLEX Center, all at Oxford University. He maintains an active interest in veterinary medicine, particularly veterinary acupuncture, as well as general wildlife and large animal medicine. Moreover, he is a member of the Royal Geographical Society and the Linnean Society.
