Christian Plantin is a linguist and theorist of French argumentation born on January 1, 1947. Author of introductory books for educational purposes, he has also published theoretical works in which he proposes schemas of argumentative analysis and a discussion in particular Stephen Toulmin theories. Director of research at the CNRS, he was also a collection director at Éditions Kimé. He translated a work by John Woods and Douglas Walton on paralogisms and coordinated the translation of the New Dialectic (1996) of the Dutch argumentation specialists Franz van Eemeren and Rob Grootendorst.
