Cornelia Funke (Dorsten, Germany, 1958) studied pedagogy and illustration. She soon began working as an illustrator for children's books and writing for a young audience. He has written over forty books that have been translated into over thirty languages and various television scripts. Some of his titles have been taken to the movies, the most recent one, Ink Heart, starring Brendan Fraser. In 2005 she was chosen by Time magazine as one of the hundred most influential people in the world. His work has been awarded numerous prizes, including: BookSense Book of the year Children’s Literature, USA (2006); The Silver Slate, Dutch Prize for Children's Literature (2006); best book of the year 2005 at the Disney Adventures Book Awards for Sangre de Tinta, among others. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his two children.
