Daniel Eduardo Feierstein (Buenos Aires, Argentina, December 25, 1967) is an Argentine sociologist and researcher, specializing in the study of genocidal social practices. He chaired the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) during the period 2013-2015.
Daniel Feierstein was born in Buenos Aires, in the Villa Pueyrredón neighborhood. He studied at the University of Buenos Aires, where he obtained the degrees of Bachelor of Sociology and Doctor of Social Sciences at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
He is principal investigator of the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) for the Center for Genocide Studies of the National University of Tres de Febrero (UNTREF). In the Faculty of Social Sciences of the UBA, he is Director of the Observatory of State Crimes (OCE) and as head of the chair of the subject Analysis of Genocidal Social Practices in the Sociology career.
He has published articles in Spanish, French and English, in various scientific and legal publications on topics such as racism, massive state crimes, conceptualizations of genocide, among others.
Feierstein is a member of the Permanent Peoples' Tribunal.
