Thomas Stanford (Albuquerque, United States, 1929) is one of the most important ethnomusicologists in Mexico. Descendant of a family of pianists, he has compiled a collection of more than five thousand recordings of traditional Mexican music, as well as having produced intense and original research on Mexican folklore throughout the territory. He is an active member of the "Society for Ethnomusicology"; Doctorate Honoris Causa from the Universidad Anáhuac del Sur, for his research work; He has received a medal of recognition for the XVIII Anthropology and History Fair, for his work, teacher and active professor of INAH, ENAH, and other universities in the United States.
