Edith Hall (United Kingdom, 1959), honorary doctorate from the University of Athens, is a prestigious British classicist. Educated at Wadham College (Oxford), she specializes in ancient Greek literature and cultural history, and is an expert in the work of Homer. She has been a professor at Royal Holloway (University of London), Cambridge, Durham, Reading and Oxford, and is currently a professor at King's College (London). The author and editor of more than ten books on the ancient world, in 2015 she was the first woman to receive the Erasmus Medal from the European Academy. In Anagrama she has published The Ancient Greeks.
