Eleanor Catton (Ontario, Canada, 1985) moved to New Zealand with her family at the age of 6. In 2007 she obtained a Master's degree in Creative Writing, and her first novel The General Essay, written as a graduation thesis for the Master's degree, was awarded the Adam Award, obtaining great success among critics and readers in New Zealand, which was spreading to Great Britain and the USA Both his first and second works, Las luminarias, have been translated into the main languages and have received important international awards, notably the Man Booker Prize for Las luminarias.
