Érik Bullot (France, 1963) is a filmmaker and theorist. He studied at the National School of Photography in Arles and at the IDHEC film school in Paris. His films have been screened at numerous festivals and museums, such as the Jeu de Paume (Paris), La Enana Marrón (Madrid), the Moving Image Biennial (Geneva), the CCCB (Barcelona), the New Museum (New York ), the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires, the Cineteca Nacional de Chile, among others. A monograph has been published, with a DVD, on his film work with a text by Jacques Aumont (Léo Scheer Editions, 2003).
He has published several books on cinema: Sayat Nova (Yellow Now, 2007); Renversements 1 & 2. Notes sur le cinéma (Paris Experimental, 2009 and 2013); Sortir du cinéma (Mamco, 2013, translation in Shangrila in 2019), Le Film et son double (Mamco, 2017) and in Spanish Cinema is a post-mortem invention (Shangrila, 2015) and Photogenic and paradoxes (UNTREF, 2018) . He also collaborates with the magazine Trafic.
He was visiting professor at the University of New York at Buffalo (2009-2011) and at the Centro de Investigaciones Artísticas de Buenos Aires (2013). He currently teaches film classes at the National School of Fine Arts in Bourges (France).
