Educated at St. Mary's University (San Antonio, Texas), University of Navarra, University of Texas / Austin and the University of Amsterdam, has been Assistant Professor of History at the Centre for Latin American Research and Documentation (CEDLA) in University of Amsterdam. He previously served as professor of American History at Austin Community College and taught at the Faculty of Education at the University of Texas / Austin and the Center for Mexican American Studies at the same university.
