Fred Vargas (pseudonym of Frédérique Audoin-Rouzeau, Paris, 1957), an archaeologist by training, is known worldwide as the author of crime novels; so far she has written fourteen (all of them published by Siruela). In addition to the 2018 Princess of Asturias Award for Letters, she has won the most important accolades, including the prestigious International Dagger, which has been awarded to her on three consecutive occasions. She has also received, among others, the Prix mystère de la critique (1996 and 2000), the Grand Prize for crime novels at the Cognac Festival (1999), the Trophy 813 or the Giallo Grinzane (2006). Her novels have been translated into multiple languages with great sales success, some of which have even been made into a movie.
