Germán Rueda Hernanz (Madrid, February 1950) is a Spanish historian with a degree in History from the Complutense University of Madrid and a PhD in Geography and History from the University of Valladolid, where he began his academic career and where he was an adjunct professor until 1984. He is considered a "specialist in social history."
He has been a visiting researcher at various institutions such as the Universities of Berkeley and Florida, the Istituto Storico in Rome or the CSIC (Madrid) and visiting professor at the CEU-S universities. Pablo, Nova de Lisboa and Carlos III. From 1984 to 1986 he was a professor at the University of Extremadura (Cáceres). Since the same year and currently he is a professor of Contemporary History at the University of Cantabria (Santander).
