Gisbert Haefs (born in Wachtendonk, North Rhine-Westphalia, on January 9, 1950) is a German writer of crime and historical novels. He is the brother of Hans Wilhelm Haefs and Gabriele Haefs. From 1968 to 1976 he studied English and Spanish philology at the University of Bonn. During his studies he composed and performed songs that he published under the title Skurrile Gesänge ("Grotesque Songs", 1981) also on record.

He later worked as a freelancer and translator of literature in Spanish, French and English, such as, e.g. Adolfo Bioy Casares, Arthur Conan Doyle, G. K. Chesterton, Georges Brassens and Mark Twain. In 2004 Haefs translated all the songs (Lyrics 1962-2001) of Bob Dylan. Of the works of Rudyard Kipling, Ambrose Bierce, and Jorge Luis Borges he acted not only as translator but also as editor of the complete German-language works.
