Harold Joseph Morowitz (New York, 1927 - 2016) was a biophysicist and professor of Biology and Natural Philosophy at George Mason University. The origin of life was his greatest passion for more than fifty years, particularly, the application of the thermodynamics of living systems. His intellectual production includes some twenty published titles, as well as numerous monographs and essays that decidedly promoted the scientific debate of his time.
