Henry Corbin

(1903-1978). Islamist and philosopher, is the great discoverer and host of spiritual Islam to the West. Founder and director of the Department of the French-Iranian Iranology Institute of Tehran (1946-1970), alternated stays in France and Iran; he was professor of Islamic history and theology at the University of Tehran, who appointed him honorary doctorate in 1958 Between 1949 and 1977 he collaborated regularly with the Eranos Circle, in what has been the most important project of comparative research in sciences of religions of the twentieth century.
