Horia-Roman Patapievici (Bucharest, 1957) was a professor of physics at the University of Bucharest until late 1996, when it leaves an academic career to devote himself to humanistic culture, embodied in Romania one of the harshest prestigious. Founder and editor of the magazine Idei în dialog, a translator, author of numerous publications and director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Bucharest since 2005.
