Idries Shah (1924 Simla – 1996 Londres), born in the bosom of the Hashemite family Jan Fishani, direct descendants of the prophet and the cradle of great Sufi sages, would not be limited to the teaching function within traditional Sufi Islam and developed a task of introducing Western elements that could be useful for contemporary society, rejecting the import of oriental patterns and preventing the formation of personality cults. Their work highlighted in various medical societies, cultural and economic. During the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan in the '80s he founded a relief organization for refugees, established hospitals and, despite his health, he undertook dangerous visits to the country to bring aid to the Afghans. Following this experience he wrote his only novel, Kara Kush.
