J. M. Servín

J. M. Servin was born in 1962 in a medical clinic in Tepito, D.F. (Mexico). Since high school he became self-taught and in 1993 he travels to work as an undocumented immigrant in New York, Dublin, Paris. Upon his return, almost ten years later, he began to collaborate periodically in the national media. Some of his stories and chronicles are part of anthologies and compilations. In 2001 he won the 2001 National Prize for Testimony and in 2004 the Fernando Benítez National Prize for Cultural Journalism. In 2005 he was a beneficiary of the Mexico-Colombia Artist Residency Program. Since 2006 he is a member of the National System of Art Creators. He has published Charter Journalism, Rooms for Single People (Nitro/Press, 1999; Joaquín Mortiz, 2004) and For the Love of the Dollar (Joaquín Mortiz).
