Jaime Sobrino has a doctorate in Urbanism from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and a master's degree in Urban Development from El Colegio de México. His lines of research are urban competitiveness, metropolitan expansion, urban housing market and internal migration. He is the author and co-author of books, articles and chapters on topics related to urban and regional economics, and mainly within his lines of research. He is a professor in CEDUA's teaching programs in urban and regional economics, urban economics, and statistics for territorial analysis. He was visiting professor at the universities of East Anglia, England, 2003, and Bucknell, United States, 2012-2013. He is a member of the Mexican Society of Demography, and of the Global Urban Competitiveness Project. He is a National Level III investigator of the SNI.
