Janina Hescheles

Janina Altman (Hescheles) was born in Lviv in 1931 and, after surviving the Shoah, finished her high school studies in Poland and emigrated to Israel in 1950. She has a PhD in Chemistry from the Technion (Technological Institute) in Haifa, and has worked as a Researcher at Imperial College London, at the Weizmann Institute in Rejovot and at the Universities of Düsseldorf and Munich. She is the author of numerous articles in international magazines, novels, popular science books, and an essay on anti-Nazi student resistance in Hitler's Germany, the result of years of research in Germany. She currently lives in Haifa (Israel), and continues to be an important activist for peace and human rights.
