Javier Vives

Javier Vives Rego (Barcelona, 1948) is an architect. He made the first of his trips to Japan in 1979 to see its most emblematic monuments and buildings. Since then he has combined his professional activity with Japanese art studies. His interest in the culture of the Japanese country goes far beyond architecture and extends to all forms of artistic expression. In addition to his work as a lecturer, Javier Vives is the author of The Japanese Theater and the Plastic Arts (Satori, 2010), an essay in which he analyzes the visual aspects that Japan's classical theatrical forms have in common with other Japanese artistic expressions such as architecture, gardening, painting or sculpture.
