Jean Chevalier (1906-1993) was a writer, philosopher and French theologian. He served the university teaching before joining UNESCO as director of the Office of International Relations, since leave to devote himself to research and writing. Author of a wide essayistic production, achieved notoriety as the coordinator of this dictionary, indisputable reference work.
