Jerónimo Ríos Sierra

Jerónimo Ríos Sierra is a Doctor in Political Science (extraordinary doctorate award) from the Complutense University of Madrid -by the hand of Heriberto Cairo and María Lois- and is currently a postdoctoral researcher of the excellence program "Investigation Talent Attraction 2018 that is co-financed by the Community from Madrid. He has a degree in Law and Political and Administration Sciences (Autonomous University of Madrid) and has a Master in Politics and Democracy (UNED), a Master in International Relations (Complutense University of Madrid), a Master in Contemporary Studies in Latin America ( Complutense University of Madrid) and a Master in Military History of Contemporary Wars (Jaume I University).

He has been a professor at different universities in Colombia, Spain and Canada and has made short research stays at universities such as Granada, Valencia or San Martín de Porres (Peru), in addition to being an advisor to the Organization of Ibero-American States in Colombia during the process of dialogue and implementation of the Peace Agreement with the FARC-EP. In total, it accredits more than 4,500 hours taught and is recognized as a contracted doctor by ANECA (2017).

His main lines of research are political violence and insurgencies in Latin America - with special attention to the cases of Colombia and Peru - and he also investigates critical geopolitics and discourses around violence and security on the Latin American continent. He has a total of 48 scientific articles and 31 book collaborations (25 papers indexed in Scopus and 5 in JCR), publishing, among others, in magazines such as Geopolitics, Rationality and Society or Latin American Perspectives.
