José María Espinasa (Mexico City, October 15, 1957) is a Mexican poet, essayist, journalist, editor and critic. He is known for his film and literature studies at UNAM. He was a teacher, journalist and editor. He has been adviser of cultural diffusion and head of cultural relations of the department of publications and of the department of literary activities of the Autonomous Metropolitan University; he was programming assistant for cultural activities at UAM-A; member of the editorial board of Intolerancia; he has directed the silver nitrate magazines and the orchestra; editor of Nueva Época; editorial secretary of Tierra interior, Casa del tiempo and La Jornada Semanal.
He founded and directed for two years the Ovaciones en la Cultura supplement, a newspaper for which he produced the World Cup I, World Cup II and Olympic sports encyclopedias. Director of Ediciones sin Nombre S.A. DE C.V. He was coordinator of editorial production at El Colegio de México. Contributor to Intolerance, Casa del tiempo and La Jornada Semanal, La Orquesta, Nitrato de Plata, Novedades, Nueva Época, Vuelta and Tierra interior. He was part of the National System of Creators of the National Council for Culture and the Arts. In 1995 he entered the National System of Art Creators.
