José María Rico

José María Rico, (n.12 August 1934, Granada, Spain), is a lawyer, specializing in criminology, married to the former President of Costa Rica Laura Chinchilla Miranda. Son of Joseph and Carmen Gaya Rico Cueto Narváez acquires Canadian citizenship and later Costa Rica, to marry Laura Chinchilla Miranda, who has a son, José María Rico Chinchilla.José María Rico doctorate in law from the University of Granada, Spain, a law graduate diploma in criminology from the University of Paris, France. He has been honorary professor of the Department of Criminology at the University of Montreal in Canada and consultant to the United Nations Latin America. Consultant on policing issues in various countries (Canada, Spain, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Dominican Republic and Venezuela). Consultant to various international institutions (USAID, World Bank, IDB, ILANUD, UNDP) on various topics related to the administration of justice (judicial councils, judiciary, judicial police, public safety, police reform, public corruption, thesaurus criminology and justice penal.1He has published over 20 books and monographs and 60 articles on topics related to the administration of criminal justice, police and public safety
