Julien Béziat was born in 1978 in Périgueux, France. As he grew up he drew with his father, while sharing his mother's passion for books. After obtaining his bachelor's degree at the University of Bordeaux, he began teaching as a fine arts teacher and obtained his Ph.D. While studying and teaching, Julien began to write and illustrate stories for children. He now lives in Bordeaux with his wife and two children. Mäko is her first illustrated book, with which she won the Première album at the Montreuil Children's Book Fair in France.
