Luis Mateo Díez

Luis Mateo Díez (Villablino, 1942) is one of the most outstanding narrators in the contemporary literary scene. His prolific production includes novels such as The Fountain of Age, Ghosts of Winter, The Loneliness of the Lost, Vicissitudes and The Son of Things, among many others, as well as the narrative cycles The Kingdom of Celama and Fables of Feeling. He has received, among other things, the National Narrative Award and the Critics' Award on two occasions, as well as the Ignacio Aldecoa, Café Gijón, Miguel Delibes and Francisco Umbral. He also won the Castilla y León Prize for Literature and the Literature Prize of the Community of Madrid. His work has been translated into other languages ​​and adapted to film and theatre. Since 2000 he has occupied the chair of the I of the Royal Spanish Academy.
