Luis Pérez Oramas was born in Caracas (Venezuela, 1960). He has published, since 1978, eight poems, the last two in Pre-Texts: Prisoner of the Air (2008) and La dulce astilla (2015). His poetry has been included in several anthologies edited in Caracas, Spain and Mexico. Essayist, critic and curator of visual arts, he has published several essay books and catalogs and has curated numerous exhibition projects.
Doctor in Art History from the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (Paris, 1994), curated the Thirtieth International Biennial of Art of Sao Paulo (2012). He currently works as an advisor for Latin American art at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
