Luis Unikel

Luis Unikel Spector, who dedicated his life to the study of urban growth and the problems that it brought in areas as limited and as densely populated as Mexico City.

In 1956 he obtained a Civil Engineering degree from the UNAM School of Engineering. He later studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; at Harvard University, earning a Master's degree in Urban Planning in 1958.

Founder of urban studies at El Colegio de México, in 1976 he was coordinator of the Master's in Urban Development of the same College, from January 1977 he was Director of the Center for Economic and Demographic Studies of El Colegio, a position he held until his death.
