Luz Gómez is a tenured professor of Arab and Islamic Studies at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Specialist in contemporary Arab ideologies, he has published Entre la sharía y la jihad. An intellectual history of Islamism (2018) and Marxism, Islam and Islamism: Adil Husayn's project (1996). In 2012 he won the National Translation Prize for his version of In the presence of the absence, by the Palestinian poet Mahmud Darwix. She is a contributor to the newspaper El País.
