Doctor in Social Science with a specialty in Sociology from El Colegio de México. Winner of the 2009 Mexican Academy of Sciences Award for the best doctoral thesis. He is a member of the National System of Researchers of Mexico level 1. His research interests are: human rights, civil and political rights and political violence (revolutions, indigenous and peasant rebellions, social movements and other forms of collective strife); struggles for access to and delivery of justice; everyday forms of resistance, and the living conditions of workers and marginalized people.
