Marco Aurelio Carballo López (n. Tapachula, Chiapas, 1942 - d. Mexico City, August 1, 2015) was a Mexican writer and journalist. He received the National Journalism Award in 1997, in the Interview category. Likewise, the National Prize for Journalism "José Pagés Llergo" 1998, in the Chronicle genre. He served as head of information for the magazine Época and the newspaper unomásuno. He collaborated in the weekly Siempre! and Punto y Aparte, east of Xalapa; in the monthly magazines El Búho and Gente Sur, and in the newspapers La Prensa, from Mexico City; Diario del Sur, from his hometown, and El Heraldo de Chiapas, from Tuxtla Gutiérrez, as well as the electronic magazine Este Sur.
His most recent book was Morir de periodismo, under the Axial-Tinta Nueva label, in which he recounts, from his personal point of view, the genesis of the unomásuno newspaper.
He published a dozen books, including short stories, novel chronicles, a minimal autobiography and his first novel: Burning Powder from Second Street. In 1994 he was awarded the Rosario Castellanos Chiapas Literature Prize, in addition to the II National Novel Prize "Luis Arturo Ramos". He published the books Crónica de novela (7Cambio, 1992), Mujeriego (Planeta, 1996), Real life of the useless artist (Colibrí, 1999), Muñequita de barrio (Fondo de Cultura Económica, 1999), Diary of an intense love (New Image , 2000) and Latest News (2010).
