Marcus du Sautoy

Marcus Peter Francis du Sautoy (London, Great Britain, August 26, 1965) is a writer, presenter, columnist and professor of mathematics at the University of Oxford, popularly known mainly for being the host of the BBC documentary series The Code , about basic concepts of the history of the use and meaning of numbers.

In 2001 he won the Berwick Award from the London Mathematical Society, which is awarded to the best research carried out by a mathematician under forty. He is known mainly for his work of popularizing mathematics and for being a specialist in number theory. He writes in The Times and The Guardian and has presented several television programs about mathematics on the BBC. The three books he has written so far have received high praise from critics. With the music of the prime numbers he won in 2004 the Peano Prize in Italy and in Germany in 2005 the Sartorius Prize.
