Mariana Villanueva

Born in Mexico City in 1964. He studied composition at the National Conservatory of Music. Among his teachers are Mario Lavista, Federico Ibarra, Julio Estrada and Daniel Catan. From 1988-1995 he completed a BA and MA from the University of Carnegie Mellon, Pittsburgh, with Leonardo Balada and Lucas Foss. Among the support received scholarship are John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation (1999); Trust MEXICO / USA Rockefeller promoting, FONCA and Bancomer (1995) Foundation; FONCA Scholarship (1993 and 1997) and a grant from the Carnegie Mellon University (1988-1993). Since 1987 his compositions are regularly scheduled in various forums dedicated to contemporary music in Mexico, US, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland cycles. You have commissioned works Carnegie Mellon Trio (1993), the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble (1995) and the National Coordination of Music and Opera of the National Institute of Fine Arts (1995 and 2000). He has also made music commissioned by performers like Luis Humberto Ramos (1996), Victor Flores (1997), Andres Cardenes (1999), Arturo Pantaleon (2002) and Omar Hernández (2004).
