Marina Palei (Leningrad, 1955), is a prominent writer and journalist. Her flamboyant and eclectic style, combining modern and postmodern elements, has earned her the respect of critics as well as the love and loyalty of readers. After graduating with a degree in medicine and practicing medicine for a few years, Palei began to get involved in theater circles and write poetry. Soon after, she began studying at the Maksim Gorky Institute of Literature, from which she would graduate in 1991. Since then, Marina Palei has experimented with all literary genres. Among her works stand out: Mónechka (La Cabiria de Leningrad), El choir, Lunch, Klemens, Zhora Zhirniago and Tribute to the Salamander.
