Markus Werner was born in 1944 in Switzerland and currently lives in the city of Schaffhausen. On the slope, his seventh novel, stands out within a literary production that has been translated into various languages and was awarded the Joseph Breittbach (2000) and Johann Peter Hebel (2002) awards. Werner is the author of Zündels Abgang, Froschnacht, Die kalte Schulter and Der ägyptische Heinrich, as well as Tierra firme and Hasta pronto, published in Spanish.
