Marta Harnecker is a Chilean sociologist known disseminator of Marx's thought. Studious of the labor movement, has worked for many years with social movements in Latin class; currently resides in Venezuela, where he is an advisor of the government of Hugo Chávez.

Intellectually formed in France under the tutelage of Louis Althusser, his popular works, among which are "Basic Concepts of Historical Materialism" and "Capital: fundamental concepts" have known countless editions.
