Michel Foucault (Poitiers, 1926 - Paris, 1984), is a philosopher, historian and French sociologist, he taught baring both American and French universities, ending occupying a chair at the Collège de France.
Son of an eminent surgeon in the area of Vichy, Foucault highlighted in studies up to the École Normale Supérieure, a step to enter university, where he studied philosophy and psychology. He served as a professor at universities in France, Sweden, Warsaw and Tunisia, while completing his dissertation double.
In 1966 published Les Mots et les choses, one of his most important contributions to structuralism by Jacques Lacan, Claude Lévi-Strauss and Roland Barthes.
