Murray Jackson

Murray Jackson (1922-2011), graduated in Medicine from the University of Sydney (1945), trained and worked as a psychiatrist at the London Hospital. His growing interest in analytical psychology and psychoanalysis led him to form also in these disciplines. Between 1972 and 1984 he directed a unit at Maudsley Hospital dedicated to the application of psychoanalytic principles to serious mental disorders. Professor and writer of renown, he is known for his application of the psychoanalytic approach to the treatment of psychosis. In 1994 he received the Life Service Award for his contribution to the psychotherapy of schizophrenia of the International Society for Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis (ISPS).
