Néstor Olhagaray (Chile, 1946) is an artist, teacher and curator. He completed his studies in the School of Fine Arts of the University of Chile (1965), obtaining the title of Professor of State in Plastic Arts in 1970. In addition, he realizes the Course of Aesthetics in the Faculty of Philosophy and Education of the University of Chile (1969). He also studied at various schools in Moscow and Paris. His extensive videography, realized since 1985, has been worked in different formats, allowing him to realize diverse expositions in outstanding salons and galleries in Chile as well as abroad. Among them are: CAV Painting Hall of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chile; University of Paris XIII, Villetaneuse (France); Salle du Bally, Epinal (France); X Biennial of Plastic Arts of Paris (France); Bucci Gallery, Santiago; Exhibition of Chilean art from the Staatliche Kunsthalle (Germany); Third World Newsreel, (United States); Goethe Institut Rfa, Chile. As lecturer he has taught classes and workshops in different Chilean faculties like UTEM, ARCOS, DUOC UC and University of Chile; He has also taught at the University of Bordeaux, France. His areas of interest are photography, plastic morphology, audiovisual communication, cinema, video, image theory, visual semiology, among others. His extensive experience in the creation of audiovisual material has made him a jury member and curator of different national and international events, in which he emphasizes his role as director in previous versions of BAM, called Video Biennial and New Media. Santiago, held at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Chile. Among the publications that have been in his charge highlights the book Del video art to the net-art of Lom Editores. He is currently a candidate for the PhD Program in Philosophy, Aesthetic Mention and Theory of Art at the University of Chile.
