Nicolás Gómez Dávila

Nicolás Gómez Dávila (1913-1994) was born in Bogota. At age six, his family moved to Paris. There he acquired a mastery of thought, classical languages and European literature. At twenty-three he returned to Bogota. Over time, he treasured in his mansion an impressive library, which were being held daily to read and write. Throughout his life he worked in a wise distillation of all his readings, titled Scholia to an implicit text (1977-1986). His work began to be recognized thanks to the boost it received in Germany by Botho Strauss and Ernst Jünger, and the Italian edition of Adelphi.
