Omer Bartov (Tel Aviv, 1954) is considered one of the world's leading authorities on the subject of genocide and also on World War II, where he has investigated the crimes of the Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front and the political and ideological indoctrination of combatants. He is currently a distinguished "John P. Birkelund" professor of European History and German Studies at Brown University, United States. He is the author of seven books including The Eastern Front, 1941-1945, Murder in Our Midst: The Holocaust, Industrial Killing and Erasures.
