Paco Martínez

Paco Martínez (L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, 1965) is a clear case of a sports journalist by vocation, ever since he started buying Mundo Deportivo, As y Dicen… when he was just nine years old, because he was fascinated by the stories that emerged from its pages: Unbeatable champions, sporting feats, memorable matches, anecdotes full of humanity and commitment...

The 1974 World Cup in Germany is the first football memory of him, accentuated later by Cruyff's Barça and the epic of the 1979 Cup Winners' Cup in which Barcelona conquered Basel. His steps took him to the Faculty of Information Sciences at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where he graduated in 1988. The magazine Don Balón was his first professional experience. He was coordinator of the famous Extra Don Balón de la Liga and specialized in international soccer. He would also go through Futgol magazine and the Mundo Deportivo newsroom, where he coincided with his admired Juan José Castillo. In 1991 he joined Diari de Barcelona, where he covered the 1992 Olympic Games and all the information generated by the F.C. Barcelona from Johan Cruyff's dream team.

Later, he participated in the project for the Soccer book, coordinated the Sports area in the In Flight Iberia Universal newspaper and was responsible for the texts and graphic edition of the illustrated work El gran libro del soccer. He currently works in the area of Corporate Magazines at Ediciones Reunidas (Grupo Zeta).
