Paul Claudel

Paul Claudel

French thinker and writer who was born in the small town of Villeneuve-sur-Fère in 1868 and died in Paris in 1955. He worked professionally as a diplomat in the service of his country in many parts of the world, from China and Japan to the United States or Belgium.

He achieved lasting fame as a poet, playwright, art theorist, essayist and exegete in the first half of the twentieth century.

His work, almost incomprehensible, is gathered in twenty-nine volumes, ten of which contain their biblical commentaries.
