Pedro Cruz Villalón

Professor of Constitutional Law at the Autonomous University of Madrid and a doctorate in law from the University of Seville. He pursued graduate studies at the University of Freiburg (1969-1971) and postdoctoral at the Max-Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law Heidelberg (1981-1983), whose Kuratorium currently a member. He has been a professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Seville (1986-1992) and Justice (1992-1998) and president (1998-2001) of the Constitutional Court. It has also been a member of Global Constitutionalism Seminar at Yale Law School (1996-1998) and Fellow of Wissenschaftskolleg / Institute for Advanced Studies in Berlin (2001-2002). Among his works are: The state of siege and the Constitution, 1789-1878 (1980), States and exceptional suspension of guarantees (1984), The formation of the European system of judicial review, 1918-1939 (1987) and Curiosity Persian jurist and other studies on the Constitution (1999).
