He was one of the founders of the Cochrane Collaboration and director of The Nordic Cochrane Center. He is currently Professor of Clinical Research Design and Analysis at the University of Copenhagen. He has published more than 70 articles in the big five medical journals. He has published the best seller Medicines that kill and organized crime (Lince) and in English Mammography Screening: Truth, lies and controversy; and Rational Diagnosis and Treatment: Evidence-Based clinical decision-making.
