Ramón Bodegas was born in Gallinero de Rioja, of a Basque father and a Riojan mother. Since he was four years old, he has lived in the Basque Country. He is the author of the novels The goalkeeper who would kick against his own goal (1983), Jarri (1988) and Bel et bien (1996). In 1987 he was awarded the City of Barbastro Prize for his novel Jarri and in 1989 he was awarded an Aid for Literary Creation from the Ministry of Culture for his novel Bel et bien.
