Ramón Llull

Born in Mallorca shortly after the reconquest of James I and grows amid the dissolute life of the court. The result of his spiritual conversion project Mediterranean dialogue with other religions, purpose for inventing the art: a didactic instrument that seeks the conversion of the "infidels". After a training period (1265-1274) began a life of constant pilgrimages: visit universities, contact kings and popes; and tries to put, for themselves, their missionary project. Llull is one of the medieval philosophers whose work and ideas have transcended more historical, cultural and religious boundaries. Llull's thought has been passed down over time by the translations of his works into Latin, Hebrew and Arabic; and the comments of Leibniz, Bacon, Descartes, Vico, Hegel and Peirce. From his vast oeuvre include: Book Lover and the Beloved (2006), Book of Beasts (2006) and shortly Art (2004).
